Happy Thursday, WG2E-Land!
WG2E Team Members Bob Mayer and Jen Talty have the following mantra when it comes to building their Epublishing Empire:
“Content is King. Promotion is Queen. Together they rule the publishing world.”
To that superfab philosophy, I would add…
Product Diversification is Prince and/or Princess!!!
What do I mean by that?
In today’s multi-media world, to continue to build your Epublishing Empire, you’ve got to diversify your product lines!
How do you do that?
Let me give you examples from my D. D. Scott-ville Empire-in-the-Making…
1. I’ve now released 14 Ebooks, which increases my Cyber Shelf Space
***All of which have hit multiple bestseller lists across all platforms, two of which have hit Amazon’s Top 100 Bestselling Paid Lists, two of which have hit Amazon’s Mover’s & Shakers List, one that has hit B&N Nook’s Top 100, Top 10 as well as its #1 PubIt Title and multiple Hot New Release mentions.
So there’s my own version of Bob and Jen’s “Content is King”.
2. I’ve made a strong platform for myself as an Indie Epublishing Blogger and an Ebook Gifting Queen
***The WG2E still gets over 1 million hits per month. My new sister site The RG2E is growing in leaps and huge bounds with well over 12,000 visits in its first month alone!!! My Klout score is 62 last time I checked, which LOL, who knows what that really means, but it does show that I’m right up there when it comes to having a strong platform for my areas of influence. My personal blog – D. D. Scott-ville – has tripled in following the last month since I became an Ebook Gifting Queen on RG2E!!!
There’s my Bob and Jen-style “Promotion is Queen”
3. My first three Ebooks are now in production to be released as Audio Books in June 2012, with the next three soon to follow.
4. I’m in the process of selling the small and large screen TV and movie rights.
5. My first Serial Novel (in Subscription form) has just released with the A-mazing David Slegg as my Co-Author.
6. I’ll write for and produce 6 WG2E Anthologies in 2012, with 6 more to follow in 2013.
7. I’m working on a Muse Therapy Satellite/Internet Radio Show.
8. I’ve got 12 more Ebook releases scheduled for 2012 and at least that many for 2013.
9. My Social Media Outlets now include Facebook (1900 Friends), Twitter (1200 Followers), Pinterest (235 Followers), and Goodreads (170+ Friends). And, I’m very active on each, working hard to really get to know and build my reader base via creating authentic relationships with my readers.
10. I’m working on a D. D. Scott-ville Game and App…just for fun for my fans and as something unique to keep peeps comin’ back to my sites.
11. I’m exploring niche marketing with several businesses – like country line dancing saloons, cupcake boutiques, wheat grass/Naked Juice companies – with products that are big parts of my characters’ lives. (Think Product Placement)
12. I teach Online Writing Classes based on my #1 Amazon On-Writing Book – MUSE THERAPY: UNLEASHING YOUR INNER SYBIL.
Are y’all beginning to see how Product Diversification can be the Prince and Princess of your Epublishing Empire?
It’s a very unique and fun way to increase the reach of your brand and your books plus build your reader base.
It’s Your Turn, WG2E-Land: What ways are y’all finding to diversify your product lines?
The Best of The WG2E Product Diversification Wishes — D. D. Scott

DD you amaze me:) Way to go!
Thanks bunches, Lois!
It’s all about reaching readers, and readers don’t just “read”, right?
Wow! You are certainly building an empire. Well done.
Thanks sooo much, Kiru!
I’ve also found that the diversification keeps the writing process itself “fresh” for me and my muses!
You meet and work with sooo many wonderful people in different disciplines that all bring something new and unique to your world!
like kiru above, wow! i’m stunned!
i’m still trying to get a handle on doing the ebook gifting thing
congrats d.d., sincerely
adan
Thanks sooo much, Adan!
And the key is that I’m having a ball finding all these new avenues in which to build my brand.
I do think you’re gonna have a great time with the Ebook Gifting!!!
It is all about having fun with your readers and finding unique ways to connect with them!
I can’t imagine all of that. I just write stuff, and publish when the story is ready. At most 2 books and a short story each year. The quality of my writing suffers if I try to do more faster. I do tweet, blog, and pinterest. It’s enough for me.
You nailed it, SM…
“It’s enough for me.”
That’s the key…whatever works for you…YOU!!!
You rule your creative kingdom! So make that kingdom look and feel anyway that works best for you and feels best to you!!!
Holy bleep! DD, you’re impressive!!!!
You write, blog, promote, gift, relate….but do you sleep? lol
Not much, Ruth!
Speaking of which, I got your email, my friend, and will get back with you over the weekend once we return from Music City.
I live and breathe the passion I’ve found in building my empire. That’s what makes me tick. It’s genuinely ME. And that’s why it works. It’s not forced. It’s not “faked for the cameras (or screens, in our case”. It’s just ME. And it all feels very organic to me!
Wow, just reading that made my head spin. I’m convinced you’re not human, D.D.! Congratulations on your success and thanks for sharing so much of your time with the Indie community!
My DH would probably agree with you, Christy!!! LOL!
Thanks bunches for the sweet shout-out, my friend!
I feed my passion by sharin’ it with all of you! Nothin’ makes me bootscoot with gusto like knowin’ I’ve encouraged y’all to step out of the box a bit and dance to a brand new tune!
I’ll share a great anecdote with y’all too…
We brought one of our nieces and two of our nephews with us to Nashville TN this week.
They’ve been taking in all the superfab artistic avenues this city offers – from the A-mazing music, to the gorgeous boutiques, rolling hills and meat n’ three diners tucked into ‘em, and more…
My 8-year-old nephew handed me a business card from The Loveless Cafe (we’d just eaten there, and their food is to die for…fried green tomatoes included
). He gave me the card and said “Here, Aunt D. D., you’ve gotta do something with these biscuits in your next book!”
Now that’s sharin’ your passions and paying forward that kind of synergy!!!
Cute story DeeDee. I love when our kids “get” it.
Kids do sooo “get” it, Barbara…LOL! And usually waaay before the adults, right?!
Wow, DeeDee, my head is spinning. Don’t know how you do it all. What I love about you is that you share the process and tell us what works and how, thanks so much. You’re such an inspiration!
Sharin’ our passions and our experiences is the only way we can truly pay it forward to each other and help each other succeed, Elizabeth!
That’s what it’s all about here at The WG2E!!!
Go, Girl, Go!!! Take the ideas you luuuvvv…and make ‘em your own!!!
Wow, too, from me. I don’t know how you get the time to do all that. So far I have epublished two books, have another one (separate from Angels) hopefully out next month. I also will be having two magical romance stories epublished by an epublisher in May and more to come (am writing the third). I have a website for my Angel series, which I need to add more to, and plan to do something similar for my romance stories. My Klout score is 43 (found out this morn after reading this blog), I am on FB, Twitter, Pinterest and Goodreads. I blog as much as I can. Oh, and I hope to be included in a couple of WG2E anthologies next year (waiting for the rota to work out when I need to start writing for those). I also am thinking of writing another magical romance series to go along with my first one.
Way to work it, Julie!!! Well done!!! U Go, Girl!!!
Way to build your very own Indie Epublishing Empire!!!
Congrats, my friend! As usual, D.D., you inspire me and get my fires burning!
But what I love most about the way you do it is that you don’t lose D.D. in the process. It’s all so YOU.
As to my own diversity, I’m writing across a three genres including anthology stories, helping Roy move into the graphic book arena where he’ll be trying out his own version of serial episodes, blogging monthly here on WG2E, doing the Reader2Author Interview series on RG2E, planning on POD and audio once my first series is complete, and of course doing Facebook, twitter, etc. I think the biggest hurdle for me (aside from time!) is still not being certain of my cyber-identity.
All of this…our Indie Epub Journey…is about not losing ourselves, Alicia! I luuuvvv how you said that!!!
I’m seeing from all the comments to this post that people are perhaps a bit terrified by the all the balls and projects I have tossed up into the air…but that’s me!!! That’s D. D. Scott! I thrive on developing new ideas and concepts then goin’ for the gusto of makin’ every one of ‘em a hit…or at least trying with all I am. Not all of ‘em will rock the world, but many of them just might!
But it works for me ’cause its “authentic D. D. Scott”.
That doesn’t mean this style is authentic to each of you.
The trick is to for y’all to try ideas and see which ones “don’t lose YOU in the process”.
Once you figure out your “cyber-identity”, or brand, if you will, and that will take some trial and error, you’ll find your own beat and dance to it with gusto! And I know you’re one helluva dancer!!!
Oh my gosh, you’re amazing! I’m just trying to write! People like you are such an inspiration. Thanks for this post.
There’s nothin’ wrong with “just trying to write”, Kathleen! U Go, Girl!
You’ve gotta have that before any of the rest of this!!! And, once you’ve got it, you’ve got to figure out how to maintain that churning out of new pages while you begin to work-in the business and marketing angles too.
Baby steps mixed with big ass leaps…that’s how you’ll get there!!!
When do you find time to write? I’m tired just thinking about doing all of that.
I write each and every day, Merry – even while on vacation too
– and usually right after lunch and until Happy Hour around 4 PM.
I used to write first thing in the morning beginning at 4 AM.
But, I’ve found I have to get all the business and marketing done first before my muses dance with gusto across my screen and pages.
Great blog today & fabulous ideas! I don’t know where they all come from! Keep it up!
Thanks Bunches, Jeanne!
My parents raised me to believe that everything was possible and to think outside the box!
That’s how it started…and now I totally thrive on that kind of “just do it” but “do it a wee bit differently” energy.
Holy cow. Do you sleep? 12 ebooks in 1012! I would love for you to take us through a typical day for D.D. Scott
Great idea for a blog post, Ty!!!
I’ll do that for y’all!!!
Stay-tuned then for “A Typical Day for D. D. Scott”…I think I’m up again on Sunday, so watch for it then, my friend!
I did something like that in my MUSE THERAPY on-writing book, but my schedule has changed quite a bit from that one…so it will be good for my muses too to capture that on the screen.
Holy cow, D.D.! (What kind of coffee are you drinking?) Congratulations on everything! Take care, Dee
Today, it’s Colombian, Dee, compliments of the Gaylord Opryland hotel! LOL!
Thanks for the superfab sweet shout-out!
Wow. When do you sleep? I can barely keep up with the few projects I have going.
Truth be told, I do sleep 8-hours every night! Probably why I do have sooo much energy…I do get the rest I need to kick some butt on my screen and pages each and every day.
I also eat mostly organic and most of the time vegan.
I don’t drink pop…only water…and enjoy a cocktail or glass of wine every day!
I walk a bit too, but not as much as I should. Although, I do get outside every day at least for a few minutes (even in the blizzards).
Those are my secrets, Delaney…plus, I’m doing what I love to do…treating readers to great books for great prices!!!
That’s a very impressive list, D.D. I especially am interested in seeing you do the TV and movie thing.
I’ve seen a whole of of “holy cow”s in the comments this morning, but no one is sharing what they are doing. Maybe it’s because none of us are coming anywhere near what you are doing, which has us all stunned.
I just released my most recent book in February and it has been on the Amazon Top 100 Paid for the last 10 days. I’m feverishly writing everyday and hope to have the next one out by end of May, with 2 more by Christmas, along with being in your October anthology.
Trying to keep up with my 6,000 Twitter followers and all other other sites I’m on, plus the writing, is almost more than I can stand. I don’t know how you do it all!
Congratz!!!
Wavin’ atchya, Debra!
Yes, the TV/Movie Rights process is turning out to be sooo much fun and quite interesting too! I’ll post more on that as it continues to evolve.
I hear ya on the “holy cows”…but what I hoped to show in this post is simply that the possibilities of how far you can extend your own brand are endless!
It’s about finding those projects that work best for you or might work for you then goin’ for the gusto of exploring and developing them.
And congratz to you, Debra! Welcome to The Amazon Top 100 Club!!! U Go, Girl!!!
WOW, I’m tired now, just reading about all you do!
You should bottle that high-energy Cool-aid you must be drinking, you’d make millions!
I’m SO glad to see your books will be on Audio. I go through 2-3 books per week on Audio and many of my favorite authors haven’t made it to Audio yet. YAY, can’t wait till June!
Congratulations on “Tush Pushing” your way up the ePub Empire! : )
If I bottled my kinda energy, I’d make the rest of the world as nutty as I am, Jill! LOL!!!
Oooo…I’m tickled to hear about your luuuvvv of Audio Books…a totally new world for me!
I think you don’t see many Indie Authors there because most don’t know yet that you can create Audio Books as an Indie Epub Author. That’s why I’m blasting that superfab scoop (on using Audible’s ACX) all over the place!!!
I can’t wait till my June Audio Book Releases either!
And I luuuvvv the “Tush Pushing” concept!
U rock, my friend!!!
My goodness Dee Dee – you must have cloned yourself to achieve as much as you do – that it totally AMAZING. Great to hear about all your successes – and thankyou for sharing your knowledge with the rest of us so generously.
U betchya, Giselle!
I want to show y’all – by example – that you can have it all…if you do some Jill Mora-style “Tush Pushing” to build your very own Indie Epub Empires!!!
Wow! D.D. you AMAZE me! How you can multitask and achieve that much is beyond me! It’s takes dedication, passion, discipline, and your coffee!!
You are truly an inspiration!
LOL, Angel…thanks sooo much for the sweet shout-out!
I luuuvvv what you said here:
“It’s takes dedication, passion, discipline, and your coffee!!”
And to the coffee, I’d add a cocktail or glass of wine a day too!
Cheers, my friend!
Wow!
You really have a lot happening. Way to go!!
Thanks Bunches, Partner!!!
I’m over the moon to be sharing the journey with you!!!
DD, your awesomeness has no bounds. You are a true inspiration and I love all of your boundless energy!
Awe-shucks, Sheila!
Thanks sooo very much!
Nothin’ beats knowin’ that y’all are finding inspiration in my nutty ways and methods!
U Go, Girl!!!
