Happy Sunday, WG2E-Land!
Here’s an interesting concept to apply as we’re all working to Find Readers…
The Law of the Playground
“I don’t know you, but my friend likes you. If she likes you then I like you.”
I’ve been reading my Go-To Social Media Queen – Kristen Lamb‘s – latest book, and this is where I came across this superfab philosophy.
Are You There Blog on Amazon
on B&N
So what does this mean exactly?
How does it work?
Let me give you some wonderful examples from The WG2E’s new sister site The RG2E, which is totally reader-focused.
Straight from The RG2E’s Comments Sections:
“Both sound intriguing-however, today I am leaning towards Deadly Obsession for my Kindle, since right now Mystery/Thrillers seem to be satisfying my reading appetite. Big thanks to Greg Carrico for clueing me in to this site!!…Yay! So glad Greg linked me up with this site! Absolutely incredible! Thanks so much!!! Looking forward to many hours of happy ereading!!!” — Michelle
“Hello,
Just wanted to let you know I read the Bootscootin’ and Cozy Cash Mysteries Box Set and thoroughly enjoyed every story.
I told my sisters (3) and Mother about the books, they all purchased the series as well.
We decided to form a book club of sorts and discuss the books.
This resulted in lots of giggles, a pitcher of margaritas and all around FUN!
We all loved the books, and feel like the characters are family.
We will continue to recommend them to friends and family.
I am having withdrawal. I have my calendar marked, and I’m anxiously awaiting the release of Carats and Coconuts. We are currently reading the High Heel Mysteries (1-5) by Gemma Halliday.
Looking to your website for additional inspiration and reading material.” — Barbara
“D. D., I have to tell you that I already have your boxed set. I read Bootscootin Blahnik’s and loved it so I bought the set. Then I lent my sister the book and she bought the set too. Thank you so much for starting this for all of us readers!” — Tina
“You are great. I’m in money saving mood now, so no purchases for me except a must-learn workshops.
Now thanks to you I got 3 ebooks free. I’m even afraid to think how wonderful it can be to win Kindle Fire in March (my birthday is in March). I have a Sony eReader bought in 2009, but longed for a Kindle for long. Anyway thank you for great idea and making your idea work! Wish you the best, Adila”
Pretty A-mazing feedback, right?!
On a “Playground”, two principles work – “if you’re doing it or like it then I want to try it to” and “sharing”.
That’s what we’re doing at The RG2E, and it’s sooo working!!!
I encourage y’all to c’mon over to The RG2E and browse through our pages and all the comments we’re getting!
We Ebook Gifted over $500 worth of Ebooks in February (our first month) and gave away a Kindle Fire too! We’re building a very vocal Ereading Community and sharin’ the luuuvvv and The Law of the Playground. And it just feels so right and sooo good!!!
The Best of The RG2E and The Law of the Playground Wishes — D. D. Scott

Gifting books is a fab way to get readers interested and I think RG2E is one of the few sites that actually do this as a regular feature – way to go!
To my knowledge, Sibel, our RG2E is the only Ereader Blog out there Ebook Gifting every day at the rate we are!!!
It just feels sooo good to be able to treat readers! And the most wonderful part too is that most every author we feature, then Ebook Gift to our RG2E Readers, is a new author for these readers. !!! Now that’s how to build a reader base!!!
Also, wow are these Ereading Peeps then sharin’ the luuuvvv!!! They are total Seth Godin-style Sneezers!!! Every single day we’re getting a bunch of new followers and participants in our Ebook and Ereader Giveaways, and they thank, in the comments, who told ‘em about our site!!!
Thanks Bunches for your RG2E Luuuvvv, Sibel! You rock!!!
I love the concept of ebook gifting (not just the author giving away copies, but the site investing in the authors that support it *and* providing value for the readers)! I’m behind RG2E 100% and try to tweet it or post it on Facebook every couple of days.
Oh, and those e-reader giveaways aren’t bad either!
Thanks bunches, Vickie, for all your RG2E Luuuvvv!!!
And it’s by doing just what you’re doing – sharin’ that luuuvvv – that’s the reason we’re able to build such a superfab Ereading Community via The RG2E!!!
The RG2E is goin’ viral, and it’s because we’re focused on GIVING and sharing our excitement about today’s Ereading!
We’re connecting Ereaders to E-Authors in a totally new “purple cow” way!!!
And I luuuvvv how you said it:
“…the site [is] investing in the authors that support it *and* providing value for the readers…”
You nailed it right there, my friend!!!
Today, at The RG2E, The WG2E’s own Alicia Street is debuting her A-mazing one-of-a-kind Reader2Author Interview featuring fellow WG2E Team Member Scott Nicholson!!!
Scott is being interviewed by one of his fave Readers, the superfab Pj Schott, and he interviews her too about her reading habits.
And of course, we’ll Ebook Gift the Ebook of Scott’s that first connected Scott and Pj!!!
These Reader2Author Interviews rock!!!

Oops…that was the link to sign up for the next RG2E Ereader Giveaway, which is another Kindle Fire…so if you’d like a shot at a Kindle Fire, use that link.

I used to buy books for all my readers friends for b-days, etc. Now, for those with eReaders, I gift them ebooks and its great! They are always coming to me for recommendations. I absolutely love what you are doing on RG2E! Totally amazing.
Thanks Bunches, Jen!!!
I thought this idea of building an Ereading Community, based on my Ridin’ The Free-Way Experiment, might work to help our reader bases grow…but I had no idea it would go viral like it is this soon after launch!!!
Here’s just one example…
We had 515 Entries in our first RG2E Ereader Giveaway for the launch month of February, which I thought was terrific!!! And over the weekend, we shipped out our first Kindle Fire to our first winner!!!
Yesterday alone, on Day One of our March month-long contest for the next Ereader Giveaway (another Kindle Fire), we had over 225 entries…again…on just Day One!!!
What a great philosophy you all have at WG2E and RG2E. Both helping authors find readers, and providing readers with access to fabulous books and chances to win great prizes. It’s a definite win/win. Kristin Lamb is brilliant and I totally agree with her Law of the Playground. It makes perfect sense and seems to be working! Thanks for sharing, DD.
U betchya, PJ!!!
And we’ve been Ebook Gifting your superfab On Thin Ice too!!! I think I still have a couple more who’ve requested that one now too!!! Yayyy!!!
What we’re doing at The RG2E just feels sooo right and sooo good to me.
It’s a wonderful extension of our WG2E philosophy of “nothin’ beats writers helping writers reach readers”.
And now we’re not just finding ‘em, we’re treatin’ em via that philosophy which has sooo worked for me in that “the first one is on me”!!!
Afternoon, DD!
Kristen’s the best in the biz. The woman is nimble footed and the team she’s put together is a fabulous place for authors to go to get help in building their author brand.
RG2E is an awesomeness site for readers – I re-tweet alerts everyday after I’ve brushed my teeth. And I’ve your link buttons on my site for a while – but I don’t think I told you! Ahem.
I tend to lurk and re-link ’cause I’m in creative mode on a new ms. I might not say much but I AM HERE!
Thanks for adding our RG2E Button to your site, CC!
You rock!!!
And I luuuvvv hangin’ with ya at The RG2E!!!
I also luuuvvv taking Kristen’s philosophies and givin’ ‘em my D. D. Scott (Seth Godin-based) “purple cow” twists!!!
Hi DD, Such a great idea & seems like the future is unlimited. One question, tho. Michael & I put HOOKED on RG2E on the first day–Feb 1, IIRC. How do authors find out how many books were requested? Or should I ask instead, how many books were gifted? Not sure how to express the question…
Great question, Ruth, and thanks for asking!!!
Great timing too!!!
As of yesterday, we’re now going to be emailing all our authors following each EOTD feature to let y’all know how many of your Ebooks we’ve Ebook Gifted!!!
The fun part is…because of our Super Saturday and Super Sunday Selection Days (when our RG2E Peeps can request any book we’ve featured so far on the site as their Ebook Gift for that day), you can continue to be Ebook Gifted long after your featured spot!!!
***We had a bit of a glitch with these, in that we weren’t able to see all the comment requests for awhile because they came in on various pages, but now we’ve got that fixed. So no worries there.
My DH and I will be putting together a report now, like Kindle Nation Daily does, so y’all can track and see how many readers you’re reaching – with just Ebook Gifts alone – each month via RG2E!!!
I think so far we’ve Ebook Gifted 7 copies of Hooked. But I’ll have
What’s also cool, and we’ll add this data to our reports too, is that we’re Ebook Gifting across all platforms we can. So, you’ll see from the requests coming in on our comments, some Ereaders ask for Nook copies as well as Smashwords too, not just Kindle Copies!!!
LOL…not sure where the rest of that one line went…it should say:
But I’ll have to check that again, after we get all our Super Saturday and Sunday Selections Gifted.
Hi D.D., Love this website & especially your new one, RG2E! It’s AWESOME, & so cool to be able to get free books for my Kindle! Thanks SO much!
U betchya, Jeanne!!!
We’re havin’ a ball treatin’ all you RG2E Peeps to Ebook Gift Copies and in that way introducing you to all our superfab WG2E-Land Authors!!!
Happy Ereading!!!
And we’re also gettin’ a kick outta giving away Ereaders too!!!
Thanks for the shout out on my Reader2Author interviews, D.D., and for supporting my crazy idea. E-chatting with Scott and Pj brought up so many interesting things about how we end up as avid readers — and writers. And, I agree, your superfab author-favored gifting policy onRG2E totally rocks!
U betchya, Alicia!!!
You’re Reader2Author Interviews are just brilliant and offer a totally new perspective for readers!!! What a treat for them to get to interview their fave authors and what a beyond great way for authors to get to know their readers!!!
And with being able to Ebook Gift Copy the Ebooks by the Authors you’re featuring…just another huge ‘ole plus!!!
Fantastic, DeeDee – look at that wonderful feedback! When I saw RG2E was giving away books, I thought it was a great way to stand out from the crowd, and it’s obviously working. Here’s to many more great comments.
That’s what it’s all about, Talli…finding ways to stand out in the crowd our readers are in and/or want to be in!!!
And going with my “first one is on me” approach but in an Ebook Gifting way is rockin’ the house!!!
Thanks for the superfab shout-out, my friend!!!
I love the concept of The RG2E because it’s good for both authors and readers. It’s a pleasure to promote the site because it doesn’t feel like another “Here – buy my book” pitch. The e-gifting of books is a nice bonus for everyone. Thanks, D.D.!
I luuuvvv how you said this, Kristine:
“It’s a pleasure to promote the site because it doesn’t feel like another “Here – buy my book” pitch.”
This was one of my goals from the start…to be anything BUT a “buy my book” site!!!
For RG2E, it’s about treating readers to great Ebooks as Gifts, great content, great inside scoop and great fun too!!!
Thanks bunches for your sweet shout-out!!!
Love this post D.D.! Just graduated from one of Kristen’s classes a couple of months ago, and that’s how I met C.C. MacKenzie and Alicia Street. And a whole bunch of wonderful, gifted writers within the WANA community. I am new to WG2E, but I plan on adding you, along with your sister site RG2E on my website. How fun is that?
It is such a small world, Karen!!!
WANA Peeps rock!!!
And welcome to The WG2E and The RG2E too…I’ll add you to my list as well to include on our WG2E Friends Page!!!
Thanks Bunches for the sweet shout-out!!!
I bought one of Stacy Netzel’s books yesterday off your site. I also recommended the site in a goodreads thread. Someone was asking about KND and how expensive they seemed so I pointed them over to RG2E. Hopefully it got a few more peeps taking a peek
Thanks bunches for The RG2E shout-out, Alison! U rock!!!
And woohooo that you’re also finding superfab Ebooks on RG2E!!!
It is a great spot to discover authors new to you and their A-mazing books too!
And for authors, it is a wonderful way to reach an entire new reader base for a beyond low cost compared to other Ereader-centric sites.
Thanks for the shout-out! I haven’t had Internet for a couple days so I am late in responding. This stuff is so simple, yet it does work and I hope it works for you. You are such a dynamic person with a great heart and I hope that earns you many many rewards and blessing on this venture!
