Thanks for the post!
I’m interested in finding out more about marketing for Indie. For me, this is a fab discovery.
We are going to be featuring a lot more marketing and promo info for Indie’s here on WG2E in the future. I’m so glad you’re here, Monique.
Ditto that, T, and cheers to finding the scoop you need, Monique, right here at The WG2E!!!

I’m very excited to attending RT and I’m so glad that my WG2E peeps will be there! It will be so fun. I’m also beyond words that RT has really embraced my career. I was so happy to have them do a feature story on my novel, Carpe Bead ‘em!

It’s been a great resource for writers to let them know about Indies. LOVE IT!
And huge ‘ole shout-outs, T, on your RT coverage…I had forgotten that it was indeed RT that gave you that terrific write-up!!!
Cheers to RT and The WG2E hitting Chicago in April 2012!!!
I love RT Book reviews, although I’m new to them. I do plan to go to Chicago in the spring–in lieu of the RWA conference this year–since I’m indie-publishing and RWA doesn’t offer any support at the conference–but that’s another blog.
I sent my upcoming release to RT for review. I haven’t heard back and didn’t see it in October’s issue, but I’m hoping it makes the grade and gets some e-pub time on their new page. We’ll see.
LOL, PJ! We know where that RWA took us;) That is why I’m going to RT! I love the fact that readers go to RT and look for us Indie authors. At the end of the day, I’m not too worried if RWA doesn’t recognize Indies because the reader is all that matters. And they have spoken:) Just keep writing that next great book!
Goodluck with your submission to them! Keep us posted!
Yes, please keep us posted on your submission, Pj, and cheers to you for goin’ for the gusto with RT!
As T said, it is all about your readers and fans!!!
And having the chance to meet sooo many of them each year at RT and spend the week havin’ tons of quirky-crazy fun with ‘em is just over the moon fantabulous!!!
Oooh, great scoop! I didn’t know this
And Sibel, please consider comin’ on over from across the pond and joining all of us in Chicago for RT12!!!
There is a huge international crowd at RT each year too!!!
Have heard of it as I know other authors who are epublished that go to it. But as I live over in the UK, it is a bit far for me to go. Maybe one day when I am epubbed myself.
No worries about the national convention for RT, Julie…until the day you go too, just hop on RT’s superfab website and let it work for you from across the pond!!!
Cheers!!!
Thanks! I’ll definitely check out RT Magazine. Sounds like a good one.
U will luuuvvv it, L.C.!!!
You learn what’s hot in your own genre(s) plus meet the terrific readers responsible for making our books successful!!!
U won’t believe all the Kindle ads and giveaways in this current issue!!! WooHooo!!!
I think it is great that they are reviewing self-published books. What would be even greater would be if they didn’t list them separately. What difference does it make if they are a great read?
I think you have a very valid point here, Linda! And I do hope it will eventually get to that place where it doesn’t matter how or who publishes a book…’cause readers most of the time don’t know and don’t care. LOL!
That said, I do think that at this point in the Publishing Industry Journey, it is important to let readers know that contrary to what the TradiPub World would like them to believe and are encouraging them to believe that there are indeed superfab Indie Epub books and “here are some to choose from”…
See what I mean?
I had just resubscribed to RT and noticed that epub page in the Oct magazine, how terrific! Always loved RT! I didn’t know about the website page, I’ll have to check that out, thanks for the info.
Cheers to RT, Diana!
And wow, yes, their website is just terrific! I think they just revamped it completely about a year ago, and they are constantly adding new features that can really increase all authors’ visibility with very hungry reader and fan bases!!!
RT is awesome. I received a fabulous 4* review from them on my first book, Wilderness Heart.
Can you give us some more details on the RT Convention DD and all who are going next year. When, what hotel, etc. I might try to swing it if I can get the first going under me to get another book or two published by then. Which is totally possible with epublishing… Thank you, great post.
Congrats on your superfab 4-Star RT Review, Jacqueline!!! Go, Girl, Go!
Here’s all the scoop on RT12 in Chicago:
http://www.rtbookreviews.com/convention-home
Hey – thanks for this post! I didn’t know about The Color of Heaven being featured until DeeDee let me know on Facebook. I subscribe to RT but I always get the issue late because I live in Canada, so I haven’t seen it yet. I will be watching the mailbox this week!!!
Watch that mailbox ’cause you’re an RT Superstar this month, Julianne…they even have quotes from you about how the Indie Epub Route has led to the book being placed with a film agency and foreign rights auctions too!
WooHooo!!! And congrats again!!!
I’m so excited RT is open to publishing’s fastest growing outlets – Indies! I’m a 4 time RWA Golden Heart finalist with 4 different manuscripts. Been close to that elusive ‘sale’ so many times but the stars never quite seem to align the way they need to. So I decided to self publish several of my novels. One under Lindsey Brookes and a few more (young adult) under Kat Brookes. I love RT’s conference and hope to make it this year!
Oooo…congrats on your new Indie Epub Journey, Lindsey!!! Way to make over the moon superfab success with your GH final-ing manuscripts!!!
Atta Girl!!!
And we can’t wait to meet you at RT12 in Chicago!!!
I just subscribed to RT. Don’t know why I hadn’t before. I saw the pages about indie-publishing. I will be sending an email to (was it Fergie? Will check that part out.) about Amy Atwell’s Ambersley. It is the most awesome historical romance I’ve ever read, indie or otherwise. I love it.
Wonderful way to pay it forward, Jill!
Go, Girl, Go!!!
Well, that’s just typical! I have family in Chicago, it would have been perfect. I would love to meet up with you guys and go to my very 1st convention BUT and it’s a big BUT. I’m a tax preparer and they just thought it would be a good idea to hold it on the final few days of tax season. *groans*
Just out of interest, does it cost anything to attend. I couldn’t find a price on the website.
Not sure if there is any way I can wheedle my way out of taxes for the last few days. Maybe I can just tell everyone who calls that I’m so booked I’ll have to do an extension
Who’s to know?
Look at it this way, Alison, going to RT12 would at least be a tax write-off! LOL!
It isn’t cheap…I can tell u it’s about $500 for registration and the hotel should be somewhere around $150+ per night.
But if you want to hang with a bunch of very hungry and enthusiastic readers, it’s worth every dime!!!
Now, btw, that $500 fee does include a ton of huge meals – both luncheons and dinners – plus superfab costume-themed events each night!!!
Thanks for the info DD. I wouldn’t have to worry about anywhere to stay so that would take a chunk off the bill
U betchya, Alison, and with no hotel bill that helps a ton with the costs!!! WooHooo!!! We sooo hope to see you at RT12 and our WG2E Event!!!
Ooh I love RT Magazine! How very cool of them to start focusing on indie books!
Cheers to RT Magazine, Vonda, and cheers to them totally “getting” and supporting our Indie Epub Journeys!
Hey WG2E! Have you heard about the new @author feature on Amazon? It’s in beta testing so only a handful of authors, including JA Konrath, Scott Nicholson, Johne Lock and about a half-dozen more, are currently participating. Basically, a Kindle reader can ask the author a question/comment FROM THEIR KINDLE via Twitter. How awesome is that?? Here is the link to the Ytech page where it was announced: http://news.yahoo.com/blogs/technology-blog/kindle-now-lets-ask-author-questions-ebook-200712965.html
And to Amazon’s Q&A page: http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/feature/-/1000714331/
Amazon is pretty amazing, huh?
Donna
RT is a big support of indies, and now reviews them…They so deserve this shout out..
Cheers to that, Lee!
