I know what you’re thinkin’…
Who’s David Slegg?
And
What do D. D. Scott and this David Slegg have to do with Charles Dickens?
Here’s the scoop…
David Slegg is my new Co-Author.
He’s the Castle to my Beckett.
You can get the scoop on him on his new website:
And
Welcome to our new series…
The Stuck with a Series!
For all you superfab Castle fans out there…
The Stuck with a Series is –
Castle gone country
Today, our first Stuck with a Series Book – STUCK WITH A STIFF – releases!
STUCK WITH A STIFF finishes where I left off in my WG2E All-For-Indies Viva La Valentine Anthology contribution – STUCK WITH A SCHMUCK (the STUCK WITH A STIFF Prequel).
Y’all will find out how that body got in Nicky Blane’s chicken coop as well as who dumped it there to frame Nicky.
Now then…here’s the coolest part of all about this new release…
STUCK WITH A STIFF is being released in serial format!
What does that mean?
Think D. D. Scott and David Slegg do Charles Dickens.
Charles Dickens began his writing career by publishing his novels in Serial Format, which meant that each month, another installment (aka chapter) was released.
How fun is that?!
Okay…fun…but why would an author want to do that?
Here’s the scoop…
One of the questions I’m asked most by my readers is:
“How long do we have to wait for the next book?”
Mind you, I write damn fast – it takes me about three months to write a full-length novel – but, I know, that’s not fast enough, right?! Not according to my readers!!! LOL!
So, “what if” I treated you to a new bit of D. D. Scott-ville, along with David Slegg, each week?
As in…one or two new chapters per week?
Ala Dickens!!!
D. D. Scott and David Slegg Do Dickens
Each week then, just like Dickens did each month, David and I will treat ya to the next chapter in our Stuck with a Series books.
For just $2.99 per year, you can subscribe to our Stuck with a Series Subscription Service and receive your weekly installment of our books.
We plan to release two full-length novels in this series in 2012, along with a Christmas Novella too.
So, you’re getting two full-length novels and a Christmas Novella for just $2.99!!!
Here’s how the Subscription Service works…
Just email me – dd(dot)scott(at)live(dot)com – that you’d like to subscribe (Subject Line: Stuck with a Series Subscription) then send in your PayPal payment of $2.99, payable to that same email…and we’ll sub you into our A-mazing Stuck with a Series World!!!
You’ll begin your Stuck with a Series Adventure in our Yahoo Group with both STUCK WITH A SCHMUCK (The Prequel to the series) and the first chapter of STUCK WITH A STIFF (The Stuck with a Series – Book 1):
http://groups.yahoo.com/group/scottandsleggstuckwithaseries/
Our Stuck With A Series World will be totally Reader-Interactive too…in that, in many cases, you’ll choose which direction you’d like to see the stories and characters go! We’ll also have a ton of cool pictures so you can “see” our world too!!!
Happy Ereading!!!
And Welcome to our Stuck with a Series World of Serial Ebooks!!!
It’s Your Turn, WG2E-Land: Do you recognize David Slegg?!
The Best of Ereading Wishes — D. D. Scott & David Slegg
P.S. Thanks to the WG2E’s Superfab Bufo Calvin for the terrific lead-in to our adventure in his Saturday post! And he had no clue what we were up to! LOL!!! Great minds…

Awesome! Cool! Can’t wait! Count me in!
Thanks bunches, Jeanne!
This is gonna be some kinda superfab fun adventure!!!
I luuuvvv the Reader-Interactive element as well as the fact that I’ve answered my Reader’s #1 Question with a bit of gusto…
So, when they ask:
“How long do I have to wait for the next book?”
I can say:
“About three months for the next Cozy Cash Mystery…but in the mean time, check out my Stuck With A Series, where you get a new chapter every week!”
Thanks, Jeanne!
We’re really excited about this.
Count me in, too. You write a whole novel in 3 months! It takes me that time to write and complete one of my Angel stories, which is only 6,500 words. You do write fast. Will be emailing you about subscription.
Yayyy, Julie!
We’re thrilled to welcome you into our Stuck With A Series World of Serial Novels!!!
I do write fast, Julie…LOL! But not fast enough for my readers! LOL more!!!
I’ll tell you something that is really fun too about our Stuck With A Series Serial Novels, working with a Co-Author! Now that helps crank out more pages too! We feed off each other’s pages and ideas plus it’s LOL fun too!!!
P.S. And no worries on how long it takes you to write. All that matters is that the book you write makes your readers happy!
Thanks, Julie.
I guess we all have our own writing habits and styles. I’m still finding my groove.
Good luck with your Angel stories.
Wow! What a unique idea for the 21st century! I love it, D.D.!
Thanks sooo very much, Tamara!
It does feel very futuristic indeed, but at the same time, very in-the-now too!
I can’t wait to see how our Stuck With A Series Readers shape these stories!!!
Hi, Tamara!
I think it’s a great idea too. We’re really excited.
Congrats, D.D. !
Roy’s working on something similar. Kind of a series of sitcoms.
I’m a big Dickens fan, and the interesting thing is that his serials also came at a time when publishing and the culture went thru radical changes, with more people becoming literate and wanting reading entertainment, and with printing technology making it more possible to reach the masses. Sound familiar?
Thanks bunches, Alicia!
Oooo…luuuvvv Roy’s idea of Serial Sitcoms! Cool!!!
And yes, I sooo gotchya on Dickens’ journey and timing…I do think, thanks to social media and Ereading technology, we’re gonna see a bunch of serializations because it really is a superfab fun way to let readers enjoy your worlds and characters on a more regular basis, plus give them a chance to be part of the process!
The possibilities are endless, right?!
Thanks, Alicia!
I think this is going to be great.
Seriously, D.D., do you have a twin? Are you cloned? Own a stable of elves? How do you manage all this? Three hours of sleep? I’m completely in awe of your production and energy!
No twins. No clones (that would be waaay scary…especially for my DH…:-) ). Just a passion for what I do – both the writing end and the business end.
And this time, having a Co-Author, helps me increase production a bunch!
Thanks for the fun shout-out, CC!
I like working with D.D., but I’m pretty sure we aren’t clones. Heh.
Love seeing your empire unfold. The ideas are sound and innovative and I am most impressed by your energy and will to succeed. I have always thought the idea of serialization was an excellent one – look at the success of “serialized” television shows (Desperate Housewives, etc.)
My heartiest congratulations and best wishes.
Awe-shucks, Consuelo, thanks sooo very much for the sweet shout-out!!!
I’ve been wanting to explore Serialization for awhile now! I just think it’s such a win-win for both Author and Reader! We get to treat our readers every week and with the Reader-Interactive content, we can also really get to know our readers on a level we can’t otherwise.
This is the beauty of our Indie Epub Journey too…we can continue to innovate with nothing to stop us!!!
You’re so right, Consuelo.
I’m really happy to be working with D.D.
Great idea! I’m exhausted just reading about all your new releases!
Thanks bunches, Sibel!
What superfab fun this latest adventure is turning out to be too!
And here’s a little secret to help us all catch-up on some much-needed rest…partner with a Co-Author!!! LOL!!!
I guess I didn’t consider that angle, D.D.
If I can help you to recharge a little bit, then I’m happy to oblidge.
Good luck with your new adventure! I alas I am the self-proclaimed slowest writer on the planet. Do have a day job but I can sit for 2 hours and only have 250 words to show for it.
I actually think Serial Novels could be a huge success for slower writers too, Liz!
Even if you did a chapter every two weeks or a month (like Dickens did) for your readers, it sure beats one year plus between novels…see what I mean?
Thanks bunches for the sweet shout-out too!
Hi, Liz.
In the end, I don’t think it matters how fast you get there. I think what’s more important is what you end up with when you finish.
Happy writing!
FANTASTIC, DeeDee! What a great idea – serials are huge in Asia and there’s no reason why they can’t be in North America, either. Sounds like such fun series!
Thanks sooo very much, Talli!
And I think, just like in Asia, because of cell phones being their everything device, that soon, North America (and Europe and the rest of the world too) will be more-and-more inclined to that kind of short-length data!!!
Dicken’s-style Serial Novels – I predict – are gonna be huge business for a whole new crop of authors!!!
Hi, Talli.
I didnt’ know that about Asia, but I guess it makes sense with the explosion of manga especially.
We think it’s gonna be fun too.
Super FUN, terrific idea!
I received my Yahoo Group info, so I’m in and can start reading! YAY!
I don’t know if you know about the “Yesterday’s Gone” series, it’s a Post-Apocalyptic Serial Thriller. (Sean Platt and David Wright ) I’m a subscriber and these guys seem to be doing great with theirs.
I just bet you and Mr Slegg, will kick some serious Boo-tay!
Here’s to “kickin’ some serious, Boo-tay”, Jill! LOL!!!
Thanks sooo very much for joining our new Stuck With A Series Serial Novel World!!!
We’re gonna have a ball together!!!
And ohhh yeahhh, you can start reading!!!
P.S. I’ll have to check out the Serial Thriller you mentioned too…I had not heard of it so thanks bunches for the tip!!!
They have it set up as Weekly Episodes and Seasons. The Episodes are sometimes free, otherwise $2.99 per Episode. At the end of the Season, they offer the whole Season for $4.99. They are in the 2nd Season now, I’m only on Season 1. So many books to read. . . LOL
They email subscribers offering them FREE “teaser chapters” and giveaways.
Check it out though, and see how they are doing it. Hopefully the idea is catching on!
And I am SOOOO shooting myself in the foot here. . . but you might want to think about charging more money per year. : )
Great scoop here, Jill!!! And thanks bunches for sharing!!!
What I luuuvvv about the $2.99 price point is that we do get to keep 100% since we’re doing this outside of a major platform like Amazon or B&N…and that price makes it really worth a reasonable try for readers in the new Serial Format.
I’m definitely going to check out how much material they’re including each week too, and we’re sooo going after tons of great giveaways too!!!
YAY!
Very cool!
Thanks for that, Jill.
Superfab! Looking forward! WTG, DD & Dave, the hot, new Fun Couple of Serial!
Thanks bunches, Ruth!!!
I like that “the hot, new Fun Couple of Serial”!!! LOL!!!
U rock!!!
Thanks, Ruth!
I like the sound of that. Very catchy.
I had plans to make one of my novels episodic based on the target audience, readers in their early twenties, late teens. I planned to use Wattpad for the serialization, so it’s free for an audience with very little spending money, and just packaging the episodes into bundles for $.99 on the ereader sites.
Wattpad is still mostly a mystery to me. It reminds me of the fan fiction communities I used to be a part of, you just have to get in there and be present.
But my long-term 5 year plan is for my “entry level” novels with new adult type protagonists making their way in the world to be the gateway for my other fiction. I’m still working out the arcs… like Past Due will be three bundles of three episodes each, with each “episode” being 2-3 chapters. So, since I am a plotter, I want to plan most of it out so that I don’t paint myself into a corner, so to speak. LOL.
Great ideas, Elizabeth!!!
I like how several of you are using the “episode” terminology…sounds very multi-media oriented.
I’ll have to check out Wattpad too.
Sounds cool, Elizabeth.
I hope you kick some butt. I like the sound of episode also. Something to look into.
